What is Yeff!?
Yeff! wants to promote involvement of young people in media forms. It therefore organises European forums for young amateur filmmakers where young people from all over Europe meet and present their films on the theme of cultural diversity. The forum takes place every two years in a different European country.
Yeff! is also a growing network of organisations working in intercultural education, media literacy and anti-discrimination. The partners remain in permanent contact in order to plan new events.
The network, currently comprising 12 partners from 11 European countries, organises the Yeff! Forums. It encourages young people to critically analyse media images, to express their own visions of the world through images and to present them before a broader public.
Since 2001 the CVB has been closely involved in the project, initially as coordinator for Belgium, and since 2004 for the French speaking part of the country. It is responsible for selecting and supporting the films and their makers at the forum.
In 2002 the CVB organised the Forum in Brussels.
The young participants are selected by national panels in each country.
At the Forum young Europeans take part in workshops, shoot and edit images and lead discussions in the presence of professional film makers. The programme also includes tours of the city, entertainment and film shows.
Throughout the year the network partners work with young people at local and national level. They provide a learning framework encouraging technical training, participation and cultural enrichment. Coup2pouce is also a partner for this very same reason. The programme shows films made by young people and in workshops.
The CVB and Coup2pouce await your film entries for the 2011 Forum to be held in Ljubljana in Slovenia. Spread the word!
